Puck Line & Hot Filling Technology

Project Description

Complete Puck Line for Cosmetics (Hot Fill Stick Deodorant) at 300 bottles per minute. The complete scope of the project included:

  • Automated Bottle Sorting & Inserting into Pucks
  • Bottle priming
  • Bottom and Top Filling (Hot)
  • Cooling
  • Snap-on Capping
  • De-pucking
  • Automated puck management system

What was Client's need?

This Deodorant and Antiperspirant Puck Line was actually a multi-product line, combining different products of different nature (Alcohol based Deodorants and Antipoerspirants) in the same line with three different bottle sizes and three different puck formats.

Puck handling was fully automated. One of the Customer priorities was to avoid the manipulation pf pucks, so nobody touch any single puck in the whole process, including the change over and stockage of the different pucks.

How did Mengibar solve it?

Mengibar designed a Puck Line with the capability to perform a quick and effective continous puck changeover without stopping the line. That was the key to success using pucks in this line. Puck change over time = cero.

The Filling Machine provides an accurate control of the temperature and product flow during the filling operation. Product flow is adjusted automatically to the operational speed, regardless of product viscosity or density. Jacketed product circuit and product product continuous recirculation keep the homogeneity of the product and its temperature to avoid sedimentation and/or crystalization.

Cooling tunnel provides a progressive decrease of the temperature to avoid the risk of thermic shock and the consequent crystalization and product surface crack.
